First, let me say I usually don’t add testimonials, but we absolutely love Kent and Concrete Design systems. We found him on the web to have him fix some serious cracks we had in our beautiful stamped and stained patio. He gave us two options ( use a filler, or dig out the cracks and fill it with new concrete). For over a decade, we have had a wonderful relationship as a customer and now as friends with Kent & his company. This year we got to meet his son Zach and co-worker Colin. Man, are they great & talented workers. Our experience with this company has been nothing less than fantastic; they first rescued us from a cement contractors destruction of laying a new driveway and patio by doing an over-lay design and color of our existing cement that I feared was going to cost me another $12-15 thousand dollars to have redone. Over the years, as cement will, we have had some normal wear that has resulted in surface deterioration. Kent and his team have not only restored the cement, but fixed or filled the cracks that has given us the look of a newly surfaced or totally redone driveway. This year it became apparent that I no longer could redo my garage floor either. Again to our rescue came Kent and his team. We had a great experience with Kent and Concrete Design Systems for our patio work. We had solid concrete in place, but it had been covered with adhesive and astroturf for 40 years. The concrete steps leading up to the patio were in poor condition. When we were still trying to figure out what we wanted to do, Kent provided us with some of his work to go look at and owners to talk to. All the other contractors we talked to just wanted to either cover our deck with composite decking or pave over it. Kent was willing to find a solution that used what we had in place. They always showed up on time, worked hard, and cleaned up afterwards. The overlay looks great, we are very pleased with the results. Kent was always transparent with the bid and the costs, there were no surprises. I can strongly recommend CDS and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Kent and the crew at Concrete Design Systems (“CDS”) did several projects for us. First, the original overlay in our garage was peeling and breaking down in a few areas (due to poor workmanship by the original installer). CDS repaired the peeled places and cleaned and sealed the entire floor. Looks great. Second, our stenciled front walk had faded badly and was riddled with sap from nearby pine trees. CDS cleaned the walk and rejuvenated the “Old Chicago” color. Also looks great. Third, our stamped back patio had faded and lost its color. CDS fixed some cracking, reworked the designed pattern and sealed the patio. Again, looks great.

We had a 30 year old basketball court and were looking for the right finish to restore it as part of our back yard. Kent was expert in his advice as we were thinking we needed an overlay, but he suggested we put an acrylic on it. We got a wonderful job with a two tone finish at one third the price. We were happy with process from start to finish. I would highly recommend Concrete Design Systems for any project you may need. They were prompt with all their appointments. Our home is nearly fifty years old. Decades of wear and harsh weather conditions had caused major damage to our large driveway in front, as well as to the patio in back of the house and a smaller patio area beneath the deck. Large cracks had developed everywhere.

Concrete Design Systems came out and suggested that laying out a random flagstone pattern in soft blended desert shades, incorporating the existing cracks into the layout would solve the ugly problem we were dealing with.

A base coat was spread over the defective concrete, and large natural looking areas of faux ‘flagstone’ troweled into the surface. The following day layers of beautiful and realistic tones of actual Utah sandstone were applied to the base material. With the many newly created ‘cracks’ and the natural looking surface texture they had worked into the  material, the finishing touch of color created a rich and attractive approach to our home, as well as lovely, welcoming patios for entertaining family and friends.

To top it off, Kent Eddington managed to apply a realistic. three dimensional vertical ‘rough timber’ pattern, knots and all, to the 4-1/2’ high wall enclosing the ‘grotto’ or sunken patio space beneath the deck. He finished the realistic appearing ‘wood planking’ with a driftwood toned stain. So all of our drab, worn, ordinary surfaces had been amazingly transformed into awesomely new and beautiful ‘flagstone’ and ‘driftwood’!!

After the entire project was completed, Kent’s’ team sealed the entire project with a soft

sheened coating that he said should last about three years before needing a second

application of the sealer to maintain colorfastness.

All of that took place seven years ago. Because the sealer had not been renewed, some fading had taken place over the years. Concrete Design Systems was called in again to renew the surfaces they had created originally. We all agreed that the updated surfaces were even more attractive than the original.

I very highly recommend Concrete Design Systems to anyone wishing to enhance their

standard concrete surfaces, old or new. Their crew is beyond accommodating, trustworthy, and gifted in their skills.
